Such a move constitutes a war crime of forcible deportation of a protected civilian from the occupied territory, as defined in Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. More importantly, it stands as a horrifying escalation of Israel’s systematic practice of demographic engineering and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from occupied Jerusalem.

Salah had a hearing today 5 December in Givon prison/ at Al-Ramleh, where he again didn’t have the chance to be represented by his lawyers and Salah refused to proceed with any hearings without his lawyers. The French consul in Tel Aviv was present and could briefly speak with Salah.

The Israeli authorities, maintaining a regime of apartheid and domination over Palestinians, including in occupied Jerusalem, have issued a deportation order against Salah Hammouri that is validated and effective immediately. Salah can be deported on any day and at any time.

Imprisoned Palestinian-French human rights lawyer, Salah Hammouri, has been informed that he will be forcibly deported in three days’ time for “breach of allegiance” to Israel, following the revocation of his Jerusalem ID. Salah’s deportation will be a definitive step in Israel’s prolonged harassment and targeting of him and his work through arbitrary arrests, travel bans, surveillance spyware, and family separation.
