The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the Ligue des droits de l’homme (LDH) and Salah Hammouri filed a joint complaint in France targeting the Israeli cyber intelligence company NSO Group, for illegally infiltrating the phone of French Palestinian human rights defender Salah Hammouri. The violation was initiated in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and continued on French soil, which constitutes a violation of the right to privacy under French law.

On 21 March 2022, the Palestinian Human Rights Council, Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, the Association France Palestine Solidarite, and the Platform of French NGOs for Palestine submitted a joint urgent appeal to the UN Special Procedures on the arbitrary arrest and imminent risk of forcible deportation of Palestinian HRD and lawyer Salah Hammouri. On 7 March 2022, Israeli Occupation Forces stormed Salah’s home in Kufr Aqab, north of Jerusalem, arbitrarily arresting him and transferring him to Ofer military base.
