Rights organisations claim that use of Israeli spyware in France as well as in Palestine is a violation of French law

Salah Hamouri has filed a complaint against the Pegasus spyware maker for having ‘illegally infiltrated’ his mobile phone.

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the Ligue des droits de l’homme (LDH) and Salah Hammouri filed a joint complaint in France targeting the Israeli cyber intelligence company NSO Group, for illegally infiltrating the phone of French Palestinian human rights defender Salah Hammouri. The violation was initiated in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and continued on French soil, which constitutes a violation of the right to privacy under French law.

The Palestinian Digital Rights Coalition (PDRC) welcomes filing of a lawsuit against the Israeli Surveillance tech NSO Group for infiltrating the phone of Palestinian-French lawyer and human rights defender Salah Hammouri.

Hammouri is currently being held in illegal administrative detention in Israel based on secret evidence following a violent raid at his home on March 7. The activist had recently challenged the illegal revocation of his Jerusalem residency status by the Israeli interior ministry

On 21 March 2022, the Palestinian Human Rights Council, Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, the Association France Palestine Solidarite, and the Platform of French NGOs for Palestine submitted a joint urgent appeal to the UN Special Procedures on the arbitrary arrest and imminent risk of forcible deportation of Palestinian HRD and lawyer Salah Hammouri. On 7 March 2022, Israeli Occupation Forces stormed Salah’s home in Kufr Aqab, north of Jerusalem, arbitrarily arresting him and transferring him to Ofer military base.

Israel had already revoked Hamouri’s residency rights in Jerusalem and banned his family from entering the country.

Paris — The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) stands in solidarity with Palestinian-French human rights defender Salah Hamouri, whose appeal before the Israeli Supreme Court seeks to suspend the revocation of his residency in Jerusalem. A ruling is expected to be handed down imminently.
